Rijksmuseum


The Rijksmuseum is one of the top ten museums in the world. It is famous for its collection of paintings from the Golden Age and is the most famous museum for art and history in Holland.

The museum will be renovated between 2003 and 2008. During this renovation the main building will continue to exhibit major 17th century pieces.

Highlights of this age are united in the newly decorated ‘Philipsvleugel’ entitled : The Master Pieces (De Meesterwerken)


De Nachtwacht van Rembrandt van RijnRembrandts Nightwatch
(de Nachtwacht) is one of those master pieces.

The collection also includes work of :
Jacob van Ruisdael,  Dirck Hals,
Frans Hals, Johannes Vermeer,
Rembrandt van Rijn en Jan Steen

 

Beside paintings, the museum exhibits a vast collection of Asian art.
